Terms of Service Analyzer
Paste any Terms of Service and get a plain-English risk summary: data collection, auto-renewal, arbitration, liability caps. Free, runs in your browser, no upload.
Most Terms of Service agreements are written to be skimmed past. This analyzer reads the document for you and surfaces the clauses that actually affect you: what data the service collects, whether your content is licensed away, how hard it is to cancel, and which rights you waive in arbitration or liability sections.
Paste the ToS text (or upload the file) and the analyzer scores each section, flags unusual or aggressive terms, and explains them in plain language. Everything runs locally in your browser — the agreement you paste never leaves your device, so it is safe even for confidential B2B contracts.

How contract risk scoring works — illustrated
The decoder scans a contract across six categories — payment terms, termination, liability, confidentiality, auto-renewal, and IP rights — and flags clauses that match known risk patterns. Each detected clause carries a weight: Low +5, Medium +15, High +30, or Critical +50. The health score is simply 100 minus the accumulated risk: 100 and above is clean, 70+ is Low risk, 40-69 is Medium, and below 40 is High. Because the same clause can hide in multiple contracts you sign, the tool also tracks your risk history over time so you can see whether the agreements you sign are getting better or worse.
The example is a freelance services agreement that trips 3 Low clauses (standard payment terms, standard NDA, termination for convenience) and 2 Medium clauses (late-payment penalty, auto-renewal). Total risk 45 → health score 55 → 'Medium — needs attention'. Health score thresholds: ≥70 Low, 40-69 Medium, <40 High.
Rina is about to sign a freelance services agreement. She pastes it into the decoder and it returns a 55/100 health score and 'Medium' risk. Here is the math behind that score.
- Clauses detected:5 notable clauses across payment, confidentiality, termination, and auto-renewal categories
- Risk weights:Low +5 · Medium +15 · High +30 · Critical +50 per detected clause (max 3 matches per pattern)
- Risk tally:3 × Low (standard payment terms, standard NDA, termination for convenience) = 15 + 2 × Medium (late-payment penalty, auto-renewal) = 30 → 45 total
- Health score:100 − 45 = 55 → falls in the 40-69 band → overall risk is Medium: review the flagged clauses before signing

Frequently asked questions
How does a terms of service analyzer work?
It scans the document for known risk patterns: perpetual content licenses, unilateral changes, mandatory arbitration, auto-renewal traps, broad data collection, and liability caps. Each finding is scored by severity and explained in plain English, so you can review a 10,000-word ToS in about two minutes.
Is it safe to paste a contract into this analyzer?
Yes. Unlike cloud AI summarizers that upload your text to remote servers, this tool analyzes everything locally in your browser with JavaScript. The document never leaves your device, which matters for NDAs, employment agreements, and unreleased business deals.
