Cómo funcionaPage 2

Why HEIC saves space — illustrated

HEIC wraps the HEVC (H.265) video codec around a still image. It encodes a photo in 16×16 blocks, predicts each block from its neighbors, and stores only the difference — so flat areas (sky, walls) use near-zero bytes. JPEG instead stores every 8×8 block independently and discards high frequencies, which loses detail even at similar file size.

Predict-then-store beats store-everything
HEVC (HEIC) — predict & store the deltaNeighbor block ≈ same → tiny deltaJPEG — independent blocksEvery 8×8 block coded independently (lossy)

A photo's sky is nearly uniform. HEVC copies the whole block for a few bytes; JPEG marches through every 8×8 block and throws away high-frequency detail. Net result: HEIC ≈ half the bytes at equal quality — at the cost of needing a decoder.

  1. JPG (q92):≈1.5 MB — the universal web/email format
  2. PNG:Lossless but large — only when you need pixel-perfect transparency
  3. WebP:≈1.1 MB — modern best compression, best for web images
  4. Batch tip:Drop a whole album at once; each file converts independently and privately

How to convert HEIC to JPG for free?

Upload your iPhone HEIC photos to this free online converter. It converts HEIC to JPG, PNG, or WebP instantly in your browser. No software download, no signup, and your photos never leave your device — 100% private processing.

Can I batch convert multiple HEIC files at once?

Yes. Drag and drop multiple HEIC files (up to 50 at once). The tool batch converts all photos to JPG simultaneously and downloads them as a ZIP file. Each photo retains its original resolution and EXIF metadata.

Why do my iPhone photos show as HEIC?

Since iOS 11, Apple uses HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) by default to save storage space — HEIC files are about 50% smaller than JPG. However, many websites and apps do not support HEIC. This converter transforms HEIC to the universally compatible JPG format.
