A private, locally-stored journal with mood tracking and AI-powered weekly summaries. Your entries never leave your browser. Not a mental health tool — for reflection only.
This tool runs 100% in your browser. All computation happens locally on your device — your input is never uploaded to any server. Results are for reference only.
The journal vault stores every entry in your browser's IndexedDB, a local database that persists across sessions without any server involvement. When you save an entry, the app records the timestamp, mood score (1–5), tags, and auto-detected stress factors alongside the free text. The mood heatmap and trend chart are computed directly from that stored data, so statistics update the moment you save. AI insights — trend descriptions and observations — are generated from the entry corpus by the local model (or a statistical fallback), still entirely on-device. Because the vault never uploads, only backs up through explicit export, and is erased when you clear browser data, your writing is private by construction.
Journal entries are written to IndexedDB with mood, tags, and stress factors; analytics and AI insights are derived locally from that data.
Maya writes a short entry each evening for two weeks, rating her mood and tagging themes like "work" and "exercise". She wants to see whether an overtime push shows up in her mood trend.
To journal: write your entry — the AI provides reflections and prompts to deepen your practice. All entries are stored locally with optional encryption, completely private.
FreeToolHub AI Journal Vault is a free browser-based tool for private AI-powered journaling with local storage and encryption, no signup.
Private journal with mood tracking using IndexedDB. Get AI insights on patterns, stress factors, and trends. 100% local, no signup, free.
The Private Journal Vault is a diary that lives entirely inside your browser. Every entry you write is saved to IndexedDB, the local database built into Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, so nothing is synced to an account, a server, or anyone else's cloud. Alongside each entry you record a mood rating from one to five and optional tags such as work, exercise, or family. As your history grows, the vault turns those entries into signals: a mood heatmap covering the last six weeks, an average mood score, and AI-generated insights that connect your emotional dips to recurring stress factors. It is a reflection tool, not a mental health service, and it costs nothing.
Anyone who has abandoned a journaling app after reading its privacy policy will feel at home here, because entries never leave the device. Office workers under recurring deadline pressure use the auto-detected stress factors to see which weeks and projects drain them most. People in therapy often keep notes between sessions and want them shielded from employer-managed devices or cloud accounts. Gratitude practitioners log three good things a day and watch their average mood climb. Finally, if you simply want a low-friction habit — open a tab, rate your mood, write a few lines, add a tag — this tool removes the signup and subscription barriers that kill momentum.
(1) Rate your mood on the five-point scale, from Very Bad to Excellent, each shown with its own emoji. (2) Write the entry itself — your day, a decision, an argument, a win — and add comma-separated tags. As you type, words like stress, deadline, anxious, or conflict are automatically flagged as stress factors attached to the entry. (3) Save it, and the entry lands in your local history with edit and delete buttons. (4) Click Insights to analyze the journal: you get mood trends, your top stress factors, and observations, either from the local AI model or from Instant mode's statistical summary. The heatmap button visualizes the last six weeks at a glance.
Yes — and that design decision shapes every feature. Entries are written to IndexedDB in your browser profile, not to a company server, so there is no account to hack, no sync to intercept, and no retention policy to read. The AI insights are computed by a language model that runs on your own machine after a one-time download of roughly 200MB; the Instant mode alternative uses plain statistics and needs no download at all. The trade-off is worth understanding: clearing your browser's site data erases the journal, so use the export button to download a text backup regularly. Stuck on what to write? The built-in prompt library offers categorized questions to restart the habit.
All entries persist in your browser's IndexedDB database on your local device. No data is transmitted to any server, no account is created, and no cloud sync exists. AI-powered mood analysis and pattern detection also run locally. Your journal is as private as a physical notebook—only someone with access to your browser can read it.
Clearing browser data (cookies, site data, cached files) will permanently delete all journal entries. There is no server backup to recover from. The tool includes a one-click export function that downloads your entire journal as a JSON or text file—export weekly to maintain a backup independent of your browser state.
The local AI model identifies mood trends over time (weekly/monthly sentiment graphs), recurring themes in your writing, and behavioral patterns (e.g., "entries mentioning work stress peak on Sundays"). It generates observations, not diagnoses—this is a self-reflection tool, not a mental health application, and does not replace professional support.
