Convert video segments to animated GIFs with palette optimization. 100% in-browser.
Upload a video, select a segment, and convert it to an animated GIF
Video to GIF conversion runs entirely in your browser using ffmpeg.wasm. Your video file is never uploaded to any server.
A GIF is an 8-bit image format: every frame can reference at most 256 colors. Converting video therefore has two jobs. First, frame sampling — ffmpeg trims the clip (-ss start -t duration) and decimates it to a low frame rate (10/15/24 fps) while scaling down to a small width (320/480/640), because both directly multiply the number of pixels you pay for. Second, color quantization: the tool runs palettegen to study all sampled frames and pick the 256 most representative colors, then paletteuse maps every frame to that palette. A two-pass palette dramatically reduces banding and file size compared with a naive global conversion.
Frame count = fps × duration, and each frame stores a palette index rather than full RGB. Smaller width, lower fps, and a well-chosen palette are what keep the GIF light.

Konvertieren Sie Videos in animierte GIFs. Schneiden Sie das Segment aus, wählen Sie Qualität und Bildrate. Farbpaletten-Optimierung für kleinere Dateien. 100 % browserbasiert, kein Upload, keine Anmeldung.
Configure frame rate (10-30 fps; 15fps is optimal for most content), resolution (scale down to 480px or 320px width), color palette (256, 128, or 64 colors), and segment trim points. A 5-second clip at 480px/15fps produces a 2-4MB GIF. Lower fps and fewer colors reduce size by 40-60% with minimal visual impact.
GIF uses uncompressed 256-color frames—every frame is a full image. A 10-second 720p GIF at 30fps can exceed 50MB. Reduce size by: lowering fps to 10-15 (saves 50%), scaling width to 480px (saves 60%), trimming to the essential 3-5 seconds, and reducing colors to 128. This tool applies all four optimizations with one slider.
