This translator runs Meta's M2M100 model — a sequence-to-sequence transformer covering 100 languages — entirely inside your browser. When you hit Translate, your text is first split into sentences and merged into ~200-character chunks, because a seq2seq encoder's attention matrix grows with input length and very long passages cause the decoder to stop early. Each chunk is prefixed with language tokens and passed through the encoder–decoder, which predicts the translation word by word in the target language. Chunks are translated in sequence with the main thread yielding between batches so the page stays responsive, then joined back into a single fluent paragraph. Only the ~630MB model travels to your device — your words never do.
